Nynäs Slott
Sweden, Sweden
Nynäs Slott, located in Tystberga near Nyköping in Södermanland County, Sweden, is a well-preserved 17th-century manor house overlooking Lake Rundbosjön.
First mentioned in historical records from 1328, when it was owned by Birgitta Jonsdotter and her husband Knight Peder Ragvaldsson, the estate has been associated with prominent Swedish noble families like Grip, Gyllenstierna, Hildebrand, and Bonde.
The current main building was constructed around the mid-17th century by Baron Erik Karlsson Gyllenstierna, featuring Baroque and later Gustavian-style interiors that showcase aristocratic life from the late 1600s to the early 1900s, with original furnishings, art, and tiled stoves still intact.
Today, managed by Region Sörmland, it offers guided tours, a castle park with gardens and walking paths in a surrounding nature reserve, plus an orangery restaurant, but no one has resided there since the 1980s.
