Ostředek is a small municipality and village in the Benešov District of the Central Bohemian Region in the Czech Republic, located about 12 kilometers northeast of Benešov and 40 kilometers southeast of Prague.
Covering 12.97 square kilometers, it has around 474 residents across its parts: Ostředek, Bělčice, Mžišovice, Třemošnice, and Vráž, with first mentions dating to 1356 when a fortress was built by Slávek z Ostředka.
The site changed hands among nobles like the Chobotští, Habartovi z Čeňovic, and others, before the original fortress was rebuilt into a Baroque castle in the early 18th century by the Mladotové ze Solopysk; today it operates as a sanatorium for Alzheimer's patients, with public access limited to poet Svatopluk Čech's 1846 birthplace room.
