Outeiro de Rei is a municipality in Lugo province, Galicia, Spain, situated in the comarca of Lugo with around 5,000 residents, deriving its name from Galician "outeiro" meaning elevated land and "de rei" referencing kings, possibly tied to medieval royal estates.

A vital stop on the Camino de Santiago's French Way about 22 kilometers from Sarria, it features the Castro de Viladonga archaeological site - a 1st-century hillfort with Iron Age roots, museum, and Roman villa mosaics alongside traditional pazos, Romanesque churches, and gastronomic fame for fried eels amid rural landscapes of forests and the Miño River basin.
