Palas de Rei is a historic municipality in Lugo province, Galicia, Spain, serving as a key stop on the French Way of the Camino de Santiago roughly 68 kilometers from Santiago de Compostela, with its name possibly deriving from "Pallatium regis," linked to a supposed 8th-century Visigothic royal palace associated with King Witiza.
