Pålsjö castle
Helsingborg, Sweden, Sweden
Pålsjö Castle, situated about 2 km north of Helsingborg in Skåne, Sweden, traces its origins to medieval times with the first record of the name in 1491 as Pawelskiøb, owned by Danish noble Sten Torbensen Bille who died around 1520.
The current structure was rebuilt in 1676-1679 after destruction during the Scanian War by Helsingborg's mayor Magnus Paulin as a half-timbered manor, later renovated in Neo-Renaissance style from 1869-1873 with a tower added.
Helsingborg city acquired the estate in 1908 and the castle with its park in 1957, converting it into offices after a 1980s refurbishment that included pink plaster and modern windows, while the surrounding area features ancient beech and oak forests in a nature reserve.
