Plumlov Castle
Plumlov, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Plumlov Castle is a striking early Mannerist chateau in the small town of Plumlov, Czechia, built starting in 1680 on the site of a 13th-century medieval fortress.
Originally envisioned as a grand four-wing structure by Prince Karl Eusebius of Liechtenstein, only one wing was completed after his death, featuring an impressive facade with massive columns in Tuscan, Ionic, and composite styles across its three floors.
Damaged over time and confiscated in 1931, it now belongs to the town, which is restoring it for cultural events like music festivals, theater workshops, and exhibits on local history, art, and aviation. Perched above a scenic reservoir, the castle draws visitors for its unique unfinished design and serene setting near Prostějov.
