Postoloprty Chateau
Postoloprty, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Postoloprty Chateau is a Baroque palace in the town of Postoloprty, Czechia, built in the 17th century on the site of a former Benedictine monastery and later remodeled between 1706-1718 by architect Pavel Ignác Bayer for the princely Schwarzenberg family.
Damaged by fire in 1768 and Prussian troops during the War of the Bavarian Succession, it was repaired by 1790, featuring a four-wing design, a distinctive square tower added in 1680, and surrounding gardens.
Confiscated after World War II, sold to a private owner in 2004 whose neglect led to decay, the town purchased it in 2021 for restoration as a cultural and community space.
