Prohodna Cave, located near the village of Karlukovo in Lovech Province, is one of Bulgaria’s most famous natural landmarks.

This impressive karst cave is best known for two large, eye-shaped openings in its ceiling, popularly called the “Eyes of God,” which allow sunlight to stream into the cave and create a striking visual effect. The cave is about 262 meters long and forms a natural passage through the rock, making it the longest cave passage in Bulgaria. Unlike many caves, it is bright and easy to explore because of its large entrances and natural lighting.

Part of the scenic Karlukovo Gorge and the Iskar-Panega Geopark, Prohodna Cave attracts visitors with its unusual rock formations, prehistoric history, and opportunities for hiking, photography, and even bungee jumping near the cave’s large entrance. It is widely regarded as one of the most unique and photogenic natural attractions in Bulgaria.
