The Pskov Kremlin, known locally as Krom, is a historic fortress in Pskov, Russia, at the confluence of the Velikaya and Pskova Rivers, originating as a wooden structure in the 10th-12th centuries and rebuilt in stone from 1309 onward with massive walls up to 6 meters thick and 8 meters high, plus nine distinctive towers showcasing Pskov architecture's cubic forms, porches, and bell towers.
Its centerpiece is the towering Trinity Cathedral, first founded around 1138 and rebuilt in 1682-1699 to 78 meters high with golden domes, surrounded by churches, the 14th-century Dovmontov Gorodok citadel, and fortifications that withstood over 100 wars and sieges.
A UNESCO-recognized site embodying Pskov's veche democracy and military prowess, it endured WWII destruction but was restored as a museum complex preserving medieval relics and architecture.
