Reeves Castle is a medieval tower house in County Kildare, located near the River Liffey close to Ardclough. Probably dating from the 14th century, it was built as part of a network of defensive strongholds that helped protect the English-controlled Pale from attacks during the medieval period. The castle later became part of the Manor of Donaghcumper and was associated with the influential Alen family in the 16th century. During the Irish Rebellion of 1641, it was ordered to be burned, although it survived and was later recorded as being in good condition. Today, Reeves Castle remains a well-preserved four-storey tower house with a distinctive semi-circular stair tower and traces of its original defensive features. Its survival, along with evidence of an adjoining bawn and later farmhouse additions, offers a valuable glimpse into medieval and early modern life in County Kildare.
