Requena Castle, perched on a hilltop in the historic town of Requena, Valencia province, Spain, originated as a 10th-century Moorish fortress dominating the Magro River valley during centuries of Muslim rule.

Captured by Christian forces in the 13th century amid fierce Reconquista battles, it evolved with 15th-century Gothic additions like the Torre del Homenaje watchtower, which doubled as a prison, while surrounding walls enclosed the medieval core. 

Over time, the site hosted parades, bullfights, and sports before partial ruin, now preserved as a key heritage landmark offering panoramic views and access to nearby caves used for ancient winemaking.
