Rosersbergs Slott
Rosersberg, Sweden, Sweden
Rosersbergs Slott, located at Rosersberg north of Stockholm on Lake Mälaren in Sweden, originated as a 1630s Renaissance manor built by the noble Oxenstierna family.
Transformed into a royal palace in 1762 when gifted to Duke Charles (later Karl XIII), it underwent Baroque updates by Nicodemus Tessin the Younger and later Gustavian and Empire-style renovations under architects like Jean Eric Rehn, preserving opulent 1795-1825 interiors including the State Bedchamber used by Karl XIV Johan and Queen Desideria, the last royals to reside there.
Today managed by the Royal Court and National Property Board, it offers guided tours of its untouched rooms, a French Baroque garden with English park elements, and serves as a museum capturing late 18th- to early 19th-century royal life.
