Ruinas del Castillo árabe de Bezmiliana in Rincón de la Victoria near Málaga, Spain, represent a medieval Islamic fortress originating as a 9th-century emiral alquería that evolved into an urban settlement with homes, workshops, a mosque, cemetery, and cisterns by the 10th-11th centuries.

Its trapezoidal enclosure with seven wall sections of varying lengths, a horseshoe arch gate protected by a barbacana, and large ashlars adapted to rugged terrain served as refuge amid al-Andalus instability, inhabited through the Nasrid period until rapid depopulation by the 15th century.

Attempted Christian refortification failed post-Reconquista, leaving these significant ruins—key to understanding Muslim occupation—as an endangered archaeological site now slated for recovery amid modern urban pressures.
