Runes de la Torre del Carabassí
Spain, Spain
Ruines de la Torre del Carabassí, also known as Torre Carbassí, are the remnants of a 16th-century coastal watchtower located near Jávea (Xàbia) in Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain, on a cliff overlooking the Mediterranean.
Built as part of King Philip II's defensive network against Berber pirate raids, the square masonry structure with battlements facilitated fire and smoke signals to alert inland villages, similar to nearby towers like Ambolo.
Now in ruins with only its base and lower walls surviving erosion and time, the site blends into the scenic Montgó Natural Park, attracting hikers to its historical footprint amid dramatic coastal views.
