Verified Salsta Castle

Sweden, Sweden

Salsta Castle, located north of Vattholma in Uppsala Municipality about 25 kilometers north of Uppsala, Sweden, originated as a fortified structure in the late 13th century and later belonged to prominent noble families like Oxenstierna, Bielke, and Brahe.

The present French Baroque palace was built in the 1670s by Nils Bielke the Younger, incorporating elements from an earlier Renaissance castle designed by Nicodemus Tessin the Elder and constructed by Mathias Spieler.

Owned by the National Property Board and leased for events, it offers guided tours, concerts, and preserved rooms from various eras including a chapel from 1711 and an Empire-style music room, set amid beautiful parklands.
