Sarek National Park, located in Swedish Lapland in northern Sweden, is one of Europe’s oldest national parks, having been established in 1909.

Covering a vast wilderness of mountains, glaciers, valleys, and wild rivers, it is often regarded as one of the last true wilderness areas in Europe. The park is famous for its dramatic landscapes, including about 100 glaciers, around 200 mountain peaks, and several of Sweden’s highest mountains. The spectacular Rapa Valley and the viewpoint from Mount Skierfe are among its most iconic natural attractions.

Unlike many national parks, Sarek National Park has no marked trails, roads, or tourist facilities within its boundaries, making it a destination mainly for experienced hikers and mountaineers. Its untouched nature, rich wildlife, and deep connection to Sámi culture make it one of the most remarkable wilderness areas in Scandinavia.
