Silesian Ostrava Castle, located in Ostrava, Czechia, was built in the late 13th century by Duke Mieszko I of Cieszyn as a border fortress between the Duchy of Cieszyn and Moravia near the confluence of the Lučina and Ostravice rivers.

It originally had massive walls designed for defense and was strategically important for protecting trade routes and the border with the Polish state. In the 16th century, it was rebuilt into a Renaissance chateau featuring Italian-influenced architecture, including ornate stone ornaments and a Renaissance tower with the Sedlnický family coat of arms.

The castle remained a significant stronghold during the Thirty Years’ War, suffering occupation and damage by Swedish forces. Though much of the original medieval castle was lost due to war, mining, and renovations, some authentic spaces like the chapel and vaulted cellar remain, while other parts were reconstructed in the 20th century.
