Skarhult Castle
Sweden, Sweden
Skarhult Castle, located in Eslöv Municipality in Skåne, Sweden, originated from a medieval village site and was constructed in the 1560s as a Renaissance stronghold by Danish nobleman Sten Rosensparre under the leadership of his wife Mette Rosenkrantz.
The well-preserved brick structure features distinct wings, including a south wing with early 16th-century elements, an east wing marked by a 1562 stone tablet and decorative adornments, and later additions like a six-story tower, all reflecting Northern Renaissance style amid defensive moats and walls.
Restored in the 1840s by architect Carl Georg Brunius under King Karl XIV Johan with romantic medieval touches and an English park, it remains privately owned by the von Schwerin family, showcasing original interiors and historical significance without regular public access.
