Slade Castle is a well-preserved late medieval tower house located in the fishing village of Slade on the Hook Peninsula in County Wexford, Ireland. Built by the Laffan family in the late 15th century and expanded in the 16th century, it combines a four-storey tower with an adjoining fortified hall, reflecting both defensive and residential purposes. The castle features classic medieval elements such as battlements, vaulted ceilings, fireplaces, a garderobe (toilet), and a murder hole used to defend the entrance. Its position near the harbour suggests it was linked to local fishing, trade, and later the salt-making industry that developed in the area. Today, Slade Castle is a protected National Monument and one of the most complete examples of medieval defensive architecture in County Wexford. Its picturesque setting beside the harbour and close to Hook Head Lighthouse makes it a notable historic landmark on the Hook Peninsula.
