Sofiero Palace, located just north of Helsingborg in Skåne, Sweden, began as a Scanian farm called Skabelycke purchased in 1864 by Prince Oscar of Sweden and his wife Sophia of Nassau, who built a modest one-story summer residence completed in 1865 and later expanded in Dutch Renaissance style between 1874 and 1876 after Oscar became King Oscar II.

In 1905, it passed as a wedding gift to their grandson Crown Prince Gustaf Adolf (later Gustaf VI Adolf) and his wife Margaret, keen gardeners who transformed the grounds by planting over 5,000 rhododendrons, including Europe's largest collection of 10,000 flowers, alongside innovative gardens blending Swedish heritage and Japanese influences.

Upon the king's death in 1973, he bequeathed the property to Helsingborg Municipality, where it now operates as a public park, museum, restaurant, and concert venue hosting stars like Bob Dylan, with seasonal blooms drawing visitors to its eco-friendly displays and family-friendly spaces.
