Sturehov
Norsborg, Sweden, Sweden
Sturehov, located 3 kilometers west of Norsborg in Botkyrka Municipality near Stockholm, Sweden, originated as the medieval hamlet Averhulta owned by figures like Bo Jonsson Grip and later the Sture family, with statesman Svante Stensson Sture acquiring it in 1562 through a crown exchange.
The current Gustavian-style main building, constructed around 1781 by finance minister Johan Liljencrantz and designed by Carl Fredrik Adelcrantz after a fire destroyed the prior structure, features a rectangular two-story form with protruding central sections, Rococo-to-Neoclassical interiors including Sergel sculptures and Haupt furniture, flanked by 17th-century wings.
Owned by Stockholm Municipality since 1899 and meticulously restored in the 1950s, the preserved estate showcases original 18th-century opulence amid parklands and now hosts guided tours, events, and cultural activities.
