Telč Chateau in the Czech Republic is a splendid example of Moravian Renaissance architecture, originally built as a Gothic fortress in the late 14th century and transformed into a grand Renaissance residence in the mid-16th century by nobleman Zachariáš of Hradec.

Influenced by his travels to Italy, Zachariáš commissioned Italian artists and architects to reshape the château with elegant sgraffito decorations, ornate ceilings, and distinctive Renaissance portals featuring coats of arms. The chateau’s interiors boast remarkable rooms like the Golden Hall with intricate wooden paneling and a chapel housing a richly decorated marble tomb.

It is set within a historic town renowned for its preserved Renaissance and Baroque houses surrounding a picturesque square. Telč Chateau remains largely unchanged since the 16th century, offering visitors an authentic glimpse into noble life and the artistic exchanges between Italy and Central Europe during the Renaissance.
