The Termit Massif is a rugged, low mountain range in southeastern Niger's Zinder Region, forming the core of the vast Termit Massif Reserve and Tin Toumma National Park spanning 97,000 square kilometers, characterized by eroded black sandstone slopes, conical hillocks, gullies, and northern Gossololom rock outcrops rising from Saharan sands at elevations of 350-700 meters between the Air Mountains and Lake Chad.

This ancient geological formation, shaped by Cretaceous rifting and volcanic activity, hosts extraordinary biodiversity including the critically endangered Saharan cheetah, addax antelope, dorcas gazelle, fennec fox, and ostriches in arid acacia savannas, plus dinosaur fossils like the carnivorous Suchomimus from its Jurassic layers.

Protected since 2012 as a UNESCO tentative site, the remote massif draws rare expeditions for its prehistoric ironworking evidence, prehistoric rock art, and extreme desert wilderness amid oil exploration threats.
