Termonfeckin Castle is a medieval tower house in the village of Termonfeckin, County Louth, with origins dating to the 15th or 16th century. The site has much older religious connections, as Termonfeckin was an important ecclesiastical settlement associated with Saint Feichín and early monastic communities. The castle is notable for its three-storey structure, impressive stone construction, and unusual corbelled roof, a rare architectural feature in Irish tower houses. Archaeological evidence also suggests the presence of earlier defensive structures on the site, highlighting its long strategic and historical importance. Although damaged during the conflicts of the 17th century, the castle was later repaired and survives today as a protected National Monument. It remains one of County Louth’s most significant medieval landmarks, reflecting both the region’s religious heritage and its medieval history.
