Tikincor Castle, also known as Tickincor Castle, is a ruined fortified house located near Clonmel in County Waterford, on the south bank of the River Suir. Built around 1620 by Alexander Power during the reign of King James I, it was designed as a strong and comfortable residence rather than a purely military fortress. Following the Cromwellian period, the castle passed to Sir Thomas Stanley and later to the Osborne family, who owned and occupied it for many generations. The castle overlooks the historic Sir Thomas’ Bridge, which was built in 1690 to connect the family’s lands on both sides of the river. Although it fell into ruin by the 19th century, Tikincor Castle remains an impressive example of an early 17th century Irish fortified house. Its picturesque riverside setting and distinctive architecture make it a notable historic landmark in County Waterford.
