Torre de Hércules in A Coruña, Spain, is the oldest functioning Roman lighthouse, constructed around the late 1st or early 2nd century AD as the Farum Brigantium on a 57-meter cliff, rising 55 meters with its original 34-meter core masonry preserved beneath 18th-century neoclassical additions by engineer Eustaquio Giannini.

Legends tie it to Hercules slaying the giant Geryon, whose buried head it marks, blending Celtic and Greco-Roman myths while guiding ships continuously for two millennia, uniquely retaining structural integrity among ancient lighthouses.

Designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2009, the tower features a climbable spiral ramp interior, adjacent Iron Age petroglyphs at Monte dos Bicos, a sculpture park, and a Muslim cemetery, symbolizing A Coruña's maritime heritage amid panoramic Atlantic views.
