Torre de la Plata
Seville, Spain, Spain
Torre de la Plata is a 13th-century octagonal Almohad defensive tower in Seville, Spain, located on Calle Santander along the Guadalquivir River and originally connected by city walls (La Coracha) to the nearby Torre del Oro.
Built as part of Seville's extensive fortifications during the Muslim era to guard the river port, it features irregular sides, a ground-floor room, an upper deck with crenellated parapet, a Gothic ribbed vault, and a discovered cistern, later renamed Torre de la Victoria after Ferdinand III's 1248 conquest.
Overgrown and neglected by the 19th century amid urban encroachment, it was restored in 1992 and stands today as a modest yet significant remnant of medieval defenses, often overshadowed by flashier landmarks.
