Torre de la Quintana
Ciañu, Langreo, Spain, Spain
Torre de la Quintana, paired with the adjacent Casa de los Solís, forms a 14th-century defensive complex in Ciañu parish, Langreo municipality, Asturias, northern Spain, erected shortly after Langreo's 1338 Carta Puebla charter.
This circular masonry tower, roughly 9 meters wide and 12.75 meters tall with thick 1.45-meter walls across three floors plus attic, underwent 1540 remodeling by Prior Solís that added a connecting stone archway with coat of arms, twin ajimez windows, conical roof, and perimeter stairs amid original arrow slits for defense.
Once encircled by a vanished muralla, the site now integrates into a local secondary school after heavy modern alterations, serving as a Cultural Interest asset evoking Asturias' medieval frontier history.
