Likely originating from a 12th-century Arab structure, it faced repeated destruction by pirates and earthquakes, including a 1658 quake, before its rebuild in 1767 using brick and masonry for vigilance against coastal raids. This large, truncated-cone tower with a sloped base, loopholes, and two upper floors now stands in excellent condition as a protected cultural site, blending defense history with scenic Mediterranean views.
