Torre de Ordás
Spain, Spain
The Torre de Ordás is a 15th-century cylindrical military tower in Santa María de Ordás, León province, Spain, overlooking the confluence of the Luna and Omaña rivers.
Built by Pedro Suárez de Quiñones, Adelantado Mayor of León, as part of the powerful Casa de Luna's defensive line along the Órbigo River, it rises over 20 meters with five floors indicated by mechinales, stone masonry walls, saeteras gunports, window arches with columns, a shared chimney and latrine chute, and an internal circular staircase, though lacking battlements.
Partially ruined but restored, it ties to local legends like the tragic death of don Ares de Omaña by his uncle, and stands as a protected cultural site exemplifying late medieval frontier architecture.
