Torre de San Julián
Spain, Spain
Torre de San Julián, integrated into Castillo de San Julián, is an 18th-19th century fort on Monte de San Julián hill in Cartagena, Murcia, southeastern Spain, incorporating a cylindrical tower originally built by the British in 1706 during the War of the Spanish Succession.
Positioned to guard the harbor entrance, the Spanish expanded it over decades into a full fortress completed in 1883, which later served as a military prison during the Spanish Civil War. Though intact yet dilapidated and now owned by Telefónica with antennas installed, it holds Bien de Interés Cultural status as the city seeks its restoration.
