Torre del Cap d'Or
Moraira, Spain, Spain
Torre del Cap d'Or is a 16th-century circular watchtower perched on a 166-meter cliff at Cap d'Or promontory in Moraira, part of Teulada municipality in Alicante province, Valencian Community, Spain.
Commissioned by King Philip II following engineer Giovanni Battista Antonelli's 1563 report amid rampant Berber pirate threats, the solid masonry structure with sloping walls, corbels, and machicolations communicated via fire signals with nearby towers like Ifach and Granadella to protect inland villages and Moraira's bay.
Inaccessible from ground level except by rope ladder, it housed cannons for defense and a nearby cistern for guards, with partial restorations in 1991 preserving its role as a cultural landmark offering sweeping sea views today.
