Torre del Moro
Torrevieja, Spain, Spain
Torre del Moro is a historic coastal watchtower perched on a hill above Cabo Cervera, about five kilometers north of Torrevieja in Alicante province, southeastern Spain.
First documented in 1320 and authorized by King James II in 1312, this truncated cone-shaped masonry structure formed part of a medieval defense network against pirate raids, using smoke and fire signals alongside towers like La Mata to alert inland villages.
Rebuilt in the 16th century, restored in 1960 and 1994 with added battlements and a Torrevieja coat of arms, it now stands as a declared Site of Cultural Interest since 1985, offering stunning panoramic views of the Mediterranean, salt flats, and sunsets in a scenic park popular for photos and hikes.
