Torre Palacio de Torrepadierne
Spain, Spain
Torre Palacio de Torrepadierne is a 15th-16th century fortified palace-tower situated on a hillock overlooking the Arlanzón Valley near Torrepadierne village in Burgos province, Castilla y León, Spain.
First documented in 1214 as Padierno Tower when purchased by García Fernández de Villamayor—butler to Queen Leonor and descendant of El Cid—it was substantially expanded around 1468 by Lope de Valdivielso to defend his properties, featuring a robust tower integrated into a larger palatial complex dominating the scenic oak-forested landscape.
Retained by the Valdivielso family into the 18th century, this Bien de Interés Cultural monument blends defensive architecture with noble residence elements, exemplifying Burgos's feudal heritage along pilgrimage routes.
