Torre Tavira in Cádiz, Spain, stands as the city's highest watchtower at 45 meters, built in the 18th century within the Baroque House-Palace of the Marquises de Recaño and designated the official port watchtower in 1778 for spotting incoming ships from the Americas.

Named after frigate lieutenant Don Antonio Tavira, its terrace-style design among Cádiz's 133 surviving watchtowers offered merchants early views of trade cargoes, now complemented by Spain's first camera obscura installed in 1994 that projects live panoramic city images onto a screen.

Visitors climb 200 steps for sweeping vistas encompassing Cádiz's white rooftops, cathedral, ancient walls, Puerto Real, and on clear days the African coast over 100 km away, with exhibits detailing 18th-19th century maritime history including original spyglasses and logbooks.
