Torreón de Villatoro
Spain, Spain
Torreón de Villatoro is a 16th-century defensive tower and remnant of a medieval castle in the village of Villatoro, Ávila province, Castilla y León, Spain, strategically positioned to guard the Valle de Amblés and Valle de Corneja.
Originally ordered by Alfonso XI in the late 14th century to protect local interests and later rebuilt, it features a quadrilateral layout with corner cubes, though only one cube and portions of the walls survive amid rural fields.
Now repurposed as a tourist center and casa rural, the well-preserved structure offers visitors a glimpse into noble Spanish heritage near historic Ávila landmarks.
