First mentioned in 1431 along the Stonávka River, it evolved from earlier names like Trzenkowicze and features a significant Polish minority amid its foothills landscape 12 km east of Frýdek-Místek. Its main landmark is the neo-Gothic Church of Saint Bartholomew from 1902-1904, plus the Museum of Jiří Třanovský honoring the theologian's family roots, with easy access via the D48 motorway.
