Trollenäs Castle
Sweden, Sweden
Trollenäs Castle, located in Eslöv Municipality in Scania, southern Sweden, dates back to the 14th century when it was known as Näs and has remained in the ownership of just two families, the Thotts and the Trolles.
Originally a medieval stronghold, it was transformed in the late 1800s by Danish architect H.A. Falck into a French-inspired Renaissance castle while retaining Skåne-Danish brick architecture, featuring interiors modeled after Drottningholm Palace.
The private estate includes a nearby medieval church, a renovated 1700s distillery now serving as a café, and a symbolic decapitated troll from the Trolle family coat of arms, set amid scenic countryside.
