Trosky State Castle is a Gothic castle founded in the late 14th century by Čeněk of Wartenberg.

It is famous for its dramatic location on two steep volcanic basalt rock formations, each crowned by a tower known as "The Crone" and "The Maiden." The castle was built with strong natural defenses using the volcanic rocks, and its towers provided a strategic lookout with wide views of the surrounding area.

Despite several sieges during the Hussite Wars in the 15th century, the castle was never conquered by military force. Over the centuries, it passed through the hands of various noble families.

During the Thirty Years' War, the castle was burned down by Imperial forces and left in ruins. In the 20th century, the Czech state took ownership and began restoration efforts to preserve the site, which has become a symbol of the Bohemian Paradise region and a popular tourist destination due to its unique architecture and striking natural setting.
