Tyresö Palace
Tyresö, Sweden, Sweden
Tyresö Palace, located in Tyresö Municipality southeast of Stockholm, Sweden, was constructed between the 1620s and 1636 by Gabriel Oxenstierna, a prominent Swedish statesman, exemplifying early Baroque architecture with its symmetrical design and stucco interiors.
Inherited by noble families like the De la Gardies, it underwent modernization in the 1770s, including Sweden's first English landscape park designed by Fredrik Magnus Piper, blending meadows, forests, and fairy-tale elements around a bay.
Purchased in 1892 by Marquis Claes Lagergren, who restored it in national romantic style with architect Isak Gustaf Clason, the palace now belongs to the Nordic Museum and operates as a historic house museum open for summer tours amid preserved gardens and ancient oaks.
