Verified Ulriksdal Palace

Solna, Sweden, Sweden

Ulriksdal Palace, located on the shores of Edsviken Lake in Solna within Sweden's Royal National City Park just north of Stockholm, was originally constructed around 1640 as Jacobsdal by Jacob De la Gardie in Renaissance style and renamed by Queen Hedvig Eleonora in 1684.

Redesigned in the late 17th century by Nicodemus Tessin the Elder and further refined in the 1720s by Carl Hårleman with features like a mansard roof, it served as a royal residence for figures including Adolf Frederick, Louisa Ulrika, Charles XV, and Gustaf VI Adolf, housing Sweden's oldest Rococo theater, Confidencen, from 1753.

Today, the state-owned palace offers guided tours of its period interiors spanning the 1600s to 1900s, a chapel in Dutch Neo-Renaissance style, expansive Baroque gardens with English park elements, and cultural events amid scenic surroundings.
