Vraní Hora

Vraní Hora is the ruin of a medieval Gothic castle located on a wooded hill about one kilometer west of Vranová Lhota in eastern Czechia.
Built in the second half of the 13th century, it was strategically positioned above a valley route used by merchants and controlled an estate that included several surrounding villages. The castle is first mentioned in written records in 1277. It later belonged to regional noble families, but after conflicts involving its owners in the late 14th century, the fortress was likely destroyed around 1389.
A new seat was subsequently established in nearby Vranová Lhota, replacing the abandoned castle. Today, only remnants of walls, earthworks, and a defensive moat remain, hidden among the forest. Despite its ruined state, Vraní Hora is a protected cultural monument and a popular destination for visitors interested in medieval history and nature.
