The Watchtower of Torrelodones is a well-preserved Islamic-era structure from the Umayyad period of Al-Andalus, built between the 9th and 11th centuries in Torrelodones, Community of Madrid, Spain.
Designed for defense during the Reconquista, it monitored Christian advances with smoke or fire signals, its name deriving from the abundant hackberry (lodón) trees nearby, which also inspired the town's name and coat of arms.
Restored in 1928 after partial collapse and declared a Bien de Interés Cultural in 1983, the sturdy tower stands amid hiking trails, offering panoramic views and embodying Madrid's medieval Muslim heritage.
