Zámek Chanovice
Chanovice, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Zámek Chanovice originated as a Gothic fortress at the end of the 13th century and is first mentioned in written records from 1542, when it was owned by the Chanovský family.
Over time, the fortress was rebuilt in the Renaissance style and later remodeled in the Baroque style after a fire in 1780. It has been owned by various noble families including the Rumerskirch and Becher families, who completed significant interior renovations. The castle consists of irregular buildings around a square courtyard with a surrounding farmyard, park, and enclosing wall.
Today, it serves the community as a primary school and library, and the site is protected as a cultural monument since 1964. The castle reflects the architectural and historical evolution from medieval fortress to a noble residence integrated within the region's heritage.
