Zámek Chotěboř

Zámek Chotěboř is a Baroque château located on the northern edge of the town of Chotěboř in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic.

It was built in 1701–1702 on the site of an older medieval fortress that had fallen into ruin, creating the elegant residence seen today. The château is a four-winged, one-storey Baroque building with an inner courtyard, a chapel dedicated to the Holy Trinity, and parts of the original Gothic structure preserved in its foundations and cellars. Over the centuries it was owned by several noble families, most notably the Kinský and Dobřenský families.

In the 19th century, the estate was enhanced with an extensive English-style park featuring ponds, tree-lined avenues, and decorative landscape elements. After World War II, the château was taken over by the state and housed the local museum for many years before being returned to the Dobřenský family in 1992. Today, Zámek Chotěboř remains an important cultural monument and a prominent landmark of the town.
