Zámek Chrast
Chrast, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Zámek Chrast is a historic château located in the town of Chrast in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic.
Originally built as a fortress and later transformed into a Renaissance château in the early 17th century, it gained its present appearance through extensive Baroque renovations in the 18th century, influenced by the renowned architect Jan Blažej Santini-Aichel. For nearly 300 years, the château served as the residence of the bishops of Hradec Králové, making it an important religious and administrative center.
It remained church property until 1950, after which it came under state administration. Today, Zámek Chrast houses the municipal museum and local government offices. It is also known for its attractive chapel, historic halls, and beautifully maintained French-style gardens.
