Zámek Vilémov
Vilémov, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Zámek Vilémov is a Baroque chateau in the village of Vilémov in the Vysočina Region of the Czech Republic, with foundations tracing back to a 12th-century Benedictine monastery founded around 1120 by Abbot William.
Destroyed by Hussites in 1421, its ruins were rebuilt as a Renaissance fortress in 1578, then transformed into a Baroque residence in 1746 by Italian architect Francesco Caratti under Count Caretto de Millesimo.
Owned by the Reisky de Dubnic family since 1852—save for wartime seizures and communist nationalization until 1991—it now serves as a family-run estate with restored interiors open for tours, events, and showcasing its historical layers amid scenic Bohemian forests an hour east of Prague.
