Žerotín Castle
Žerotín, Czechia, Czech Republic (Czechia)
Žerotín Castle is a Baroque-Classical château located in the village of Žerotín near Olomouc in the Czech Republic.
It was built in the mid-18th century by the Augustinians of Šternberk as their residence and is protected today as a Czech cultural monument. The château has a simple rectangular design and has served a variety of purposes over the years. In the late 18th century it functioned as a hospital, while during the 19th century it was remodeled in a Classical style by the Saint-Genois family.
Under later ownership it was even used as a malt house. After World War II, the property was taken over by a local agricultural cooperative and used for offices and storage, which led to significant deterioration of the historic building.
