Zikim Beach is Israel’s southernmost beach on the Mediterranean coast, located near the Gaza border in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, and is known for its long stretch of golden sand, clean waters, and picturesque views.

The beach offers free parking, is pet-friendly and perfect for dogs, and provides amenities like outdoor showers, toilets, and a nearby restaurant with artificial grass, though it can get crowded and the sea can be rough with no wavebreaks. Tragically, on October 7, 2023, Hamas militants launched a speedboat assault on Zikim, killing 17–19 civilians and one soldier at the beach, after which the area was cordoned off as a closed military zone.

After major renovations costing about 20 million shekels ($6 million), the beach reopened on October 16, 2025, for the first time since the attack, and is now accessible from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a lifeguard on duty from 9 a.m., though only surfing is currently permitted while other water sports and diving remain restricted.
