Slovenia
Slovenia is a small and mountainous country located in Central Europe, bordering Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia, as well as the Adriatic Sea. The capital and largest city is Ljubljana. Slovenia covers just over 20,000 square kilometers and has a population of about 2.1 million. The official language is Slovene.
Formerly part of Yugoslavia, Slovenia declared independence in 1991 and swiftly transitioned to a parliamentary democracy and a market economy. It is well known for its Alpine scenery, forests, and rich natural resources, as well as its active commitment to environmental sustainability and high quality of life. Slovenia is a member of both the European Union and NATO.
